ARCADE SHOWROOM

Celebrating the building’s historic charm and the beauty of old-world craftsmanship, we’ve opened the doors to ARCADE: a re-envisioned retail space and flagship showroom for Lock & Mortice and Matthew McCormick Studio in our hometown of Vancouver. A neighbourhood jewel curated for authentic, aspirational living and today’s discerning client, ARCADE is a nod to the nostalgia of days past with the magic of modern relevance.

THE HISTORY OF ARCADE

With walls steeped in stories and layered in legacy, ARCADE occupies Gastown’s notable Le Magasin building - the city’s first shopping arcade built at the turn of the 20th century, originally known as the Homer Street Arcade.

A concept originating in Europe centuries prior, the indulgent joys of shopping in an arcade grew in popularity as communities would gather under the grandeur of arch-covered shopping districts over coffee and conversation. In time, the arcades became more than a transactional buy and sell: they evolved into highly curated, top-shelf shopping experiences for the discerning customer in search of a memorable moment tucked away from the hustle of daily life.
