OVA IN COLOUR PREVIEWS AT IDS VANCOUVER

IDS Vancouver celebrates the best of west coast design, and this year we unveiled Ova In Colour with an immersive installation where nature, light and play came together.

NEWS - September 2025 // Every fall, the Interior Design Show Vancouver welcomes more than 25,000 guests to the downtown convention centre; a space that is transformed into a celebration of creativity and innovation created by hundreds of brands and design exhibitors. As a nod to our studio’s hometown, it was the perfect venue for a preview of Ova in Colour — an extension of the existing Ova collection, now offered in a playful palette for experimentation.

Together with collaborators, our goal was to create an immersive, dreamlike environment grounded in natural shapes and textures with greenery, stones and a little bit of whimsy. Drawing inspiration from surrealism, our goal was to invite guests to step into a world where softness and peace can still be found even in the harshest of times.

The final result was a 25-foot cluster of 36 coloured Ova pendants, creating a beacon of seven new earthborn hues visible from every corner of the show floor.

Vancouver-based floral artist Aidan Weinrib (Things From Gardens) brought the installation to life with grass varietals arranged in a whimsical yet structured form, perfectly framing the Ova fixture and the travertine Ben Lamp nestled against the innovative MATT Concrete wall. Nature sounds and the scent of mountain air rolled off the grasses deepening the overall sensory experience.

Instinctively familiar in shape and body, the new Ova in Colour collection is a poetic ode to earthborn hues, celebrated through light, shadow, and form. Now offered in a range of seven colours, from soft pastels to poignant tones, Ova’s delicate gradation and balance of colour brings a depth of movement through its layers of handblown glass design details.

We had a lot of fun experimenting with about 40 different shades of glass in a range of colourways before we landed on the final seven tones. It was important that each one had unique personality both on and off, and could work as a single toned fixture or multi-coloured configuration.

Each colourway appears rich and tonal when at rest and softens as the dimming curve increases. The result is a palette of colour possibilities for everyone: Minimalists who are looking for a delicate pop of colour in their neutral space, or a maximalist looking for a statement piece that ties a room together.

New colours include Steel Blue, Heron Blue, Emerald Green, Sprout Green, Fuchsia Rose, Blush Pink and Bordeaux Red. Explore them all.

We were honoured to receive the Best Booth Design award, and especially proud that every material in our booth was thoughtfully repurposed after the show as part of our ongoing efforts towards sustainable design.

Our inspiration for this collection was to draw some softness in what can often feel like a sharp world, now more than ever. We need more tools to play, more time to access our creativity, and more space to push boundaries in our crafts. I hope designers can use this collection to infuse their spaces with their own unique and colourful expression.
